As most of you can see from the movie title - Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, I guess most of you can probably guess what the movie is all about. Yes, this movie is mostly about salmon-fishing with a tinge of both romance & comedy involved. Apparently, A visionary sheik (Amr Waked) believes his passion for the peaceful pastime of salmon fishing can enrich the lives of his people, and he dreams of bringing the sport to the not so fish-friendly desert. Willing to spare no expense, he instructs his representative (Emily Blunt) to turn the dream into reality, an extraordinary feat that will require the involvement of Britain's leading fisheries expert (Ewan McGregor) who happens to think the project both absurd and unachievable. That is, until the Prime Minister's overzealous press secretary (Kristin Scott Thomas) latches on to it as a 'good will' story. This unlikely team will put it all on the line and embark on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible. Why create salmon-fishing in Yemen?
Well, to me, this movie is rather enriching! Ewan McGregor, who plays Alfred Jones, in the movie, makes the movie much more interesting with all his cold jokes, which could makes me laugh out loud in the theatre every time! :D Here's some of my favorite scenes of him in the move :
In the movie, we learn about the virtue of being determination from Amr Waked, who plays Sheikh Muhammad, in the movie. Though it's rather impossible to create the sport of salmon-fishing in Yemen, but he still persistence in this vision, to enrich the lives of his people, and bringing the sport to the not so fish-friendly desert to make everything lively. I encourage people to watch this movie! :D
Many people thought that this is a documentary film, ( I thought so too ), but actually it's not because there's no salmon-fishing in the Yemen in the real life! It's actually a movie that gives us knowledge about salmon & life. Likely a movie that you can't miss it :) ( You won't want to miss all those cold jokes by Ewan McGregor which can still make you laugh out loud! ) I guess you know what to do on your weekend! >.^
